Sorry blog, but you’re just not on the priority list these days. It’s been a while, where do I begin?
Elodie has been doing great, and she’s growing up ridiculously fast. As I mentioned, she started walking while were in Newfoundland so now she tears around, terrorizes the animals, sneaks up the stairs, and constantly brings me random DVDs from the shelf. (She’s a big fan of Spawn, for some reason). She’s also talking a lot more, and quite honestly I’ve lost count of all the words she knows. There are a few that are notable though. Since she learned ‘Echo’, in Newfoundland we tried to teach her ‘Artemis’ and ‘Apollo’. Unfortunately those are too many syllables, so it’s ‘Arty’ and ‘Pauly’ instead. Thanks to my family she learned ‘Robbie’, so she busts that one out when she really wants to get my attention. The best (worst) of them though, is ‘No’ which she learned a few days ago. Just like how she thinks if she says ‘please’ she gets what she wants, if she says ‘no’ she thinks she doesn’t have to do it. Lovely. The cutest thing of all (aside from being able to do the itsy bitsy spider) is her animal noises. If you ask her, she will do the animal noises for the following animals: Puppy, Kitty, Monkey, Bear, Elephant, or Bee. I really need to put this on video and put it up here because it is far too cute.
Married life is… exactly the same as non-married life except I get my way even less than I used to. Thanks to an interest free loan from the Bank of Jessen, we came home to a lovely deck that I do not doubt made us the talk of the neighbourhood. Our fence was begun shortly thereafter and save for a few minor things, is essentially done. We still don’t have grass yet, so the dogs only get to go back there when it’s dry. Also, Apollo can kind of slip underneath the fence, but we’re hoping the sod will fix that. Speaking of dogs, Artemis started to develop a funny growth on his leg about two years ago. It grew very slowly but in that time managed to get about the size of my thumb! We actually didn’t think it was that big, but he got shaved while we were away and it became glaringly obvious. Not only was it big and ugly (think of a little Jabba the Hut on his leg) but Apollo started to lick and chew on it. One day Apollo chewed it so hard that blood splattered out, and then Artemis bit Apollo on the face. It wasn’t a pretty site, but they’re still friends. Suffice to say we took him into the vet to get it removed, and $430 later (sad face) it’s been removed and sent off for a biopsy. I’m secretly hoping that Artemis tries to remove his bandage so that we can get him a cone.
The video game industry, it seems, hates me. Nothing really worthwhile got released in the past few months and then ‘bam!’ everything starts coming out. This week Bioshock was released, as well as the new Crimson DS Lite. God, I want that thing. But, you know, I have a wife now. Next week is Metroid 3, September sees Halo 3, and October has Zelda: Phantom Hourglass. There are a bunch more like MySims, Zack & Wiki, Rune Factory, Naruto, Beautiful Katamari, and Guitar Hero III coming out in the next couple months too. It sucks and is awesome at the same time.
I have Torie and Alaina’s wedding tomorrow, so I’ll throw up some pictures from that as well as our deck and fence.
