Epic Fail!

So much for reviving the blog! April and May (up until now) were a bit crazy with both work and home life, but things are calming down now. So what's been going on?

Well, in not so good news, my Nan Stockley passed away at the end of April. For the most part she was in good health, so it came as quite a shock. I had talked to her just a week or so before and she seemed to be doing fine. It's too bad that she never got to meet Elodie, but she did talk to her several times. I'm glad she didn't suffer and that she was happy and in a good place when she died. Kayla has a nice post on her blog about her.

The day after Nan passed away was Elodie's second birthday. It was a bit bittersweet, but I made sure to have fun and celebrate it with her. We took her to Toys R Us and let her pick out some toys for herself. We were going to go to the zoo too, but she was pretty pooped when it was all said and done. We had a party for her a few days later and a bunch of people came out. I'll post pictures in a separate post, but they're on Facebook too.

It's hard to believe that it's been two years since she was born! She's grown up so much though. We can have full conversations (and arguments) with her and she's so full of life. There's certainly no dull moment. I'm constantly impressed with how smart she is and the little personality she has. She might look like me, but she's all Kayla on the inside.

Work was really busy lately because May 2 to 9 was Youth Week. As one of my co-workers put it, Youth Week for me is like Christmas for retailers. It was really, really busy, but I'm pretty happy with the way everything turned out. I still have a bunch of stuff to do before the school year is up, but it's very calm in comparison.

As far as big news goes, I'm going back to school! Grad school! I was accepted into Athabasca University's Master of Arts in Integrated Studies (MAIS) program. I'll start in September and will be concentrating in Community Studies. What's just as exciting is that prior to being accepted I was granted a $9000 scholarship from the Family & Community Support Services Association of Alberta (FCSS AA) to do the program. The City of Airdrie is helping out too, so it won't be a major financial burden. So exciting!
